The Covid-19 Vaccine: The Light at the End of the Tunnel — Proxxi
At the end of 2020 the Covid-19 vaccine rollout began in many countries, with many more eagerly awaiting delivery of their orders. With a light at the end of the tunnel we are all looking forward to returning to the activities, places, and people we have missed so much in the past 10 months.
We all have questions about the vaccine and want to know when we will be able to get back to normal. To help answer some of these questions, we did a review of recent news articles and journal publications to summarize the vaccine rollout projections and facts.
Research so far shows the different approved Covid-19 vaccines to be safe to receive for the demographics they were tested on. The vaccines underwent rigorous testing and trials, and have been approved by many countries to be dispensed.
Additionally, the vaccines are shown to provide more immunity to Covid-19 than the natural immunity caused after recovering from Covid-19.
When will we all be vaccinated?
As countries are deciding the rollout schedule, many of us are aware we are not first on the list. Most governments are understandably prioritizing healthcare workers, the elderly, and other high-risk groups . Those of us who fall outside of these categories will likely be waiting several months before we can start getting vaccinated.
In the UK, full vaccine rollout could take up to a year . The Canadian public health agency has confirmed that all Canadians who want the vaccine will receive it by September 2021 . Most Americans will likely be able to begin getting vaccinated in the summer , with the majority receiving the vaccination by September . Globally, vaccinations are also dependent on local governments’ execution strategies and people’s willingness to receive a vaccine .
What happens after people are vaccinated?
Even with many people getting vaccinated early this year, social distancing recommendations, masks, and other safety measures are unlikely to go away anytime soon. Research is still underway to determine if the vaccines will prevent those who have received from spreading Covid-19. Likely many organizations will be required to maintain social distancing and other safety efforts through the vaccine rollouts .
The vaccine itself is a product of massive global cooperation. The creation and production of not just one but multiple vaccines in under a year is an incredible feat. We are so thankful to everyone involved in the process and the incredible work and sacrifices they made for the rest of us.
Many of us at Proxxi have people near and dear to us who are in high risk groups, and we could not be more relieved that we are getting closer to a global solution. In the meantime, we will continue doing what we can to keep ourselves and our customers safe.
